Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our capital campaign and what we as the Kappa Omicron Association are doing to continue the great legacy of Phi Gamma Delta here at Oregon State. It has come time to reinvest in the house that many of us called home during our collegiate years and remember fondly today. Over the last six months, the Kappa Omicron Association, Housing Corporation and Graduate Brothers have developed plans to remodel and renovate the second and third floors of the Chapter house.
The last time renovations were made to the study rooms was in 1983! That means current students and potential pledges are seeing the wear and tear of 30 years of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity life!
Last year we began with the complete remodel of the second and third floor bathrooms. It was not too soon, as raw drainage water has been leaking into our rafters and through the kitchen ceiling. All of the water damage was corrected and the bathrooms were built to a standard that we wish to see in all of Kappa Omicrons future projects.
Generous donations from Brothers Don Bourne (’51), Ron Hagen (’76) and Scott Havens (’76) in 2010 allowed us to replace the failing water boiler and heater in the basement as well as the basement carpeting. None to soon, for those of you that don’t know, in 2008 a failed water boiler destroyed the Phi Kappa Psi house on 14th street on a OSU game day.
Our goal now is to offer updated study rooms, a library and sleeping porches that our members and graduates can be proud of. Thier current dilapidation is not the excellent standard to which we hold our esteemed Chapter.
- New electrical wiring as it has become a hazard
- Remodeled study rooms to replace outdated and failing built-ins
- Replace windows for energy efficiency
- Remodeled and updated technology (Members average 70% + of homework online or digitally)

Our fundraising goal is ambitious but very realistic as to what our Chapter house needs in repairs and renovations. Please consider making a donation of any size to help your Kappa Omicron alma mater. As we learn in our fraternal time, Phi Gamma Delta is “Not For College Days Alone”. I hope this rings true for your fraternal relationships throughout the years. Together we can accomplish more than any of us could alone.
- Consider a monthly, regular contribution of $100 for the next 24 months and join the $1848 club.
- Consider any monthly amount that you can afford for these coming 24 months.
- Consider any gift, of any amount for our non educational renovations
- Consider an annual donation of $348 dollars for our $348 Club
- Consider speaking with your Pledge class to give a naming gift for a study room
- Consider donating time to speak to other Brothers about this great cause and lending their support.
Since 1921, 1500+ men have been initiated into the
Kappa Omicron Chapter. This is a great opportunity to become more involved after all these years.
Every brother has a unique story and has made a unique contribution to Kappa Omicron. These collective lives make up the history and tradition of Phi Gamma Delta at Oregon State. These renovations to our Chapter house will serve as a visible reminder of the stories, the experiences and the precious friendships that brothers have shared over many years. There will be a number of opportunities for you to leave your mark on a given study room, sleeping porch or libraries. You may choose to name the area to which you donate in several ways (i.e. Your family name, your Pledge Class year, dedication to a fellow Brother)
- Average Study room—$20,000 x 14 rooms
- Library—$7,500 x 2 rooms
- Sleeping Porch— $20,000 x 2 rooms
- First Floor refinish—$10,000
- Ladies Restroom—$5,000
Are my donations tax-deductible?
YES, they can be! In conjunction with our Educational Foundation, any funds used for educational housing renovations can be tax deductible. Meaning all $20,000 for a study room is tax deductible! We do also need non tax deductible donations for non educational spaces such as the sleeping porches and first floor.
How will the money be managed?
All projects will be managed by S&T Fraternity Management. S&T is owned and run by Phi Gamma Delta graduates from our Cal Berkeley and Oregon State Chapter. Since 2004 they have worked with 30+ Chapters and overseen 16+ million dollars of Chapter house renovations.
When do I have to pay?
At the time of naming your pledge, you are welcome to make the full payment or work on a payment plan until May 2014.
How long will the campaign last?
Our goal is to have all pledged donations collected by May of 2014 and planned renovations to begin June 2014
What if all the money isn’t raised?
Hopefully, you wont let that happen! Depending on how much we raise, we will either modify our remodeling plans or scale projects back.
